NORTHAMPTON, Mass.—For fifteen years Scott Bricher has created a wide variety of artwork for Mad Magazine. As a member of the “Usual Gang Of Idiots” his contributions include parodies of current events, politics and pop culture. Working in many styles he creates images that range from drawings and paintings to photographic trickery and advertising mimicry.

The exhibit will be on view Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., March 4 to March 29, in the Oresman Gallery, Hillyer, Brown Fine Arts Center, 9 Elm Street, Northampton, MA 01063, Smith College‎. A gallery talk and reception with the artist will take place in the gallery Monday, March 4, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Both the exhibit and the reception are free and open to the public and wheelchair accessible.

Bricher was one of the first Mad artists to work in color for the previously black and white publication. He also pioneered the use of digital art in the magazine. An enthusiastic fan of Mad from age 11, he unexpectedly came to the magazine through connections made freelancing at advertising and design studios in New York City. He brings to Mad classical training in drawing and painting, advertising and design skills and a love of digital technology. Bricher uses these skills to recreate familiar motifs recast with satirical content.
